Creating a memorable GRAZING TABLE for your next gathering is less intimidating than you may think. Visualize your table as a collection of smaller pieces and have fun using creative ways to “connect the dots.”
For larger gatherings, search antique stores and thrift stores for flatware in bulk
In my new book, NATURAL TABLES, Nature-Inspired Tablescapes for Memorable Gatherings, you will find table setting ideas for every occasion. In the GRAZING TABLE entry, an ingredient list of "styling elements" details every item used on the table to give you a starting point for what to include on your table. In addition, you'll find lots of tips for arranging the pieces to create a complete and flowing presentation.
As with all the tables in my book, I like to use what I have on hand (like mixing and matching plates) and gather natural elements to add a decorative touch to the table.
A GRAZING TABLE is formed by gathering a collection of smaller “grazing platters.” I developed a simple formula for PLATING A GRAZING PLATTER and tested the recipe with friends and family; here is the first grazing platter my daughter (age 23) ever made! She said following the formula made it super easy!
My daughter did such a great job! And, you can too!
Use whole fruits on your table to add color and texture.
Connect each platter with nuts and fruits that hang and spill into each other.
